Mises Caucus Ohio January Update
Happy New Year!
Let's hope it is not another 2021 . . .
Fair warning, this email will be long. Crack a beer, and cancel your plans. Or just skip ahead to the sections you care about. And if you don't like drama, skip the section on caucus news.
Also, we are going to start to try doing some socials in the NW and the SE of Ohio. If you are interested in hosting, or know a county affiliate who would like to co-host and event with us, let me know!
Final big news before moving into our massive calendar: We have a substack now!
If anyone is interested, it is just posting opinion pieces and we are happy to have anyone share if you have some opinions to rant about and get out. It is also a way for you to donate to the Ohio Mises caucus so we are not just funded by the day jobs of our organizers. Check it out!
(This is the full calendar till the convention. From here on, I will only post the next month or so, but wanted to let you all see it at least once)

Last month in review:
Business Meeting:
We talked about the central committee election, and the convention.
LP/MC News:
The LNC has done a bit to resolve the Delaware situation. Not as much as anyone would like, but they stopped the party from being entirely stolen, much more is to come.
Now for the VC issue:
The Mises Caucus is putting together a slate of candidates to take over every position on the LNC
Of that slate, there is a contention over the VC seat
The Caucus has NOT endorsed anyone yet. The caucus will only endorse closer to the convention, and for a contentious race like VC, there may be no caucus endorsement and just let the candidates battle it out.
Angela and Michael are personally supporting Erik Raudsep, and Michael explains his reasoning here:
Josh Smith is the other candidate running with a history in the party. Both him and Erik are doing Q&As, and are open to questions.
If anyone wants more background, there are other Q&As and interviews covering the subject out there.
If anyone wants to know more, let me know and I am happy to answer any questions, though I do have a bias in who I think is the better candidate.
What does all of this mean? A lot, or very little depending on how much you care and how much you like twitter drama. This is 1 seat out of 17, and unless the state organizers put in enough work, and you all show up, we may not win any of the seats. The important work is getting enough Mises caucus people to Reno that we have a majority, and there is A LOT of work to get there.
Once we have that majority, we can go back to fighting over this, but for right now, it is probably doing more harm than good to keep going back and forth on this, since many people will not be changing their minds. So, listen to the Q&As of both candidates if you have the time, do a bit of digging, but then after putting 5 hours into it, take the rest of your time and volunteer it to phone banking, or donate money to help delegates get housing in Reno. If we don't have enough delegates in Reno, this whole debate is literally meaningless.
Mises Caucus Of Ohio goals:
Goal for Growing the Party: Host an average of 1 in person social a month in all 3 regions of Ohio till the end of the year. (ACHIEVED for 2021!!!)
Goal for Getting Elected: Run at least 10 candidates at local level races in 2022. Win at least 3. The goal will be to have 10 candidates ready to run by the end of the year, with campaign teams trained and rolling. (Not achieved for 2021)
Goal for Changing Laws: Get at least 10 pieces of liberty legislation passed through local lobbying efforts. (Not achieved for 2021)
Calls to Action!
Sign up for the conventions:
Anyone can become a state convention delegate and we need as many as possible. And if you have a position in your country (or get one soon) you still have a good shot at being a national delegate.
Help out with conventions:
We need to get people out to the state conventions. Ohio doesn't have the convention for a while, and other states are having them this month. They need support, especially phone banking for the convention. Let us know if you are willing to lend another state a hand, and we will pass along your info.
Start county affiliates:
This grows and strengthens the party. Also, county chairs get national delegate spots almost for sure, they choose state delegates, and they have a lot of influence on the state level. Start local, if you can and your county needs it. Reach out to our email address if you don't know who to contact to find out more.
Volunteer for the Mises caucus:
We are always looking for more volunteers at the state level. Here are the most urgent open positions. Just send an email if you are interested.
Social Coordinator for NW/SE Ohio: Organize and attend the monthly in person socials in NW or SE Ohio
Delegate coordinator: Help us figure out who will be at convention and make us more effective while there
Candidate Coordinator: Help us find and support candidates for local office
